3 year full time Degree, to progress on to this course you need a minimum of 200 UCAS points or a equivalent such as, A level, AS and GCSE qualifications, Foundation Diploma in Art and Design or National Diploma programmes or equivalent qualifications. These must be accompanied by a portfolio of work and a interview to demonstrate that the applicant is competent. By the end of this course graduates have a full understanding of process and products of graphic communication, and will also be fully capable in drawing, assemblage, printmaking, photography, video, computing, multimedia and typography.
level 1 of the course includes a overview of graphic design and includes sampling, basic principles and skills. graduates will be given a brief understanding of the hero's and influences of graphic design and there for appreciate what they can achieve.
level 2 goes deeper into the the science and deeper understanding of graphics and also allows graduates to experiment with new ideas. level 1 will be reinforced and a deeper understanding of the conventions will be given allowing self initiated work which will help prepare for the final year.
level 3, the final year of the course will allow students to use the skills that they have learnt from years 1 and 2 to create work at a proffesional standard using personal views and passions to demonstrate these skills in there portfolio. Emphasis is given to preparation for employment and also There are self funded visit opportunities abroad and exhibiting possibilities at DandAD (Design and Art Direction)in London.
